Mentoring: Training for Facilitators of Science Mentors
CSE can prepare facilitators (professional development providers, teacher leaders, curriculum specialists) to adapt the EDC science mentoring model to their own work and their own contexts. Based on a content-based mentoring model, this program will train facilitators to prepare and support experienced teachers who have, as one responsibility, the mentoring of teachers new to teaching science. The preparation of facilitators includes:
- Engagement in a model of content mentoring.
- Use of EDC’s facilitators’ guide and tools for science mentoring.
- Help in adapting the training model for other content areas and grade levels.
- Joining a network of other facilitators.
