Outcomes-Based Professional Development
This professional development service is intended for teachers who are clear about the measurable outcomes they hope to achieve with their students. Our staff will work with teachers to develop a professional development experience directed specifically at their student-outcome goals.
Requirements:
- This service can be customized to complement only those workshops or institutes described in this catalog.
- It is available only for small groups of teachers where each group is focused on the same topic, though their specific goals may vary.
- Participants must keep careful documentation of implementation of instructional techniques and of student performance.
- Work with teachers will continue throughout one semester, and can be scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
Activities:
- Teachers and staff will confer about the intended outcomes, sharpening their measurability and specificity.
- The intended outcomes will be the knowledge and skills students are expected to learn at each point throughout a sequence of lessons.
- In consultation with teachers, staff will propose specific instructional strategies to be applied in the lesson sequence.
- With staff assistance, teachers will learn the strategies, practice them with their classes, and document classroom experiences of teacher and students.
- The group will respond to the experiences and recommend adjustments to improve student outcomes.
