Consultation on High School Science Program Reform
CSE offers varied perspectives on quality curricula and curriculum implementation, instructional practice, assessment, technology applications, science connections to literacy and mathematics, and professional development.
- We can help your school or district identify needs and establish final and intermediate goals for the science program.
- We can help in the consideration of options for meeting the goals by describing a range of alternative strategies.
- We can draw from the very large professional faculty of academic improvement experts throughout EDC to participate on the team that would assist your planning process.
We are prepared to work with you in a variety of ways. We can:
- Facilitate a process wherein faculty and staff reflect on their expectations and move to agreement on outcomes.
- Help interpret outcomes and strategies in light of research and local data.
- Advise on lesson design and instructional practices that align with program goals and classroom data.
- Advise on the design of assessments and scoring that serves lesson planning.
- Provide models that increase student engagement with content and scientific processes.
- Promote a continuation of the planning structure as a collaborative team that continues its own learning as implementation proceeds.
We are available to assist at a variety of levels of consultation. We can:
- Participate at the initial stages to provide feedback on your planning ideas,
or - Advise on process and resources periodically through the planning process,
or - Facilitate the planning process for you.
