2008 DR-K12 PI Meeting
The 2008 DR-K12 PI Meeting, held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. on November 12-14, focused upon the theme “Transforming STEM Education Through Research: Making an Impact on Student and Teacher Learning.” An overarching goal of the 2008 PI Meeting was to engage the DR-K12 community in addressing how their work can challenge the current thinking about STEM education. Throughout the meeting, with presentations, panels, discussions, poster sessions, and conversation, we examined the challenges ahead of the DR-K12 community and how we can ensure DR-K12 research has an impact on positively altering the future of STEM education.

2007 DR-K12 PI Meeting
2007 was the inaugural year of the Discovery Research K-12 (DR-K12) program. This PI Meeting was held on September 9-11 in Arlington, VA, and was attended by PIs and other representatives of DR-K12 projects, as well as Instructional Materials Development (IMD) and Teacher Professional Development (TPC) projects. The theme, “Transition to the Future,” engaged meeting participants in exploring the ways in which their work pushes education into the 21st century, and, conversely, how their work can be enhanced by knowledge and attention to 21st century technologies and trends.

2006 TPC PI Meeting
The 2006 TPC PI meeting held May 7-9 at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, VA, was the second annual Teacher Professional Continuum (TPC) PI Conference. A transitional year for the program, as meeting participants learned that the TPC program will cease to be a separate program at NSF and would soon be joining IMD in the newly formed DR-K12 program. The three-day event drew some 200 attendees to discuss issues of importance to teacher professionalism. The meeting offered a mix of plenary, small-group, and poster sessions.
