| Christine Brown, CSE curriculum/instructional design associate, has developed a variety of print and online science materials at the middle and high school levels since joining EDC in 1998. She is currently working with CSE staff to develop the Foundation Science interdisciplinary high school program and also to write K–12 science curriculum guides for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA).
Previously, Christine participated in the revision of the Insights in Biology high school biology curriculum and worked with the Presidential Awards for Mathematics and Science Teaching program to create a Web site for awardees who sought to take on a teacher leadership role. She also participated in the development of an online institute for high school teachers interested in improving the scientific thinking of their students and in applying inquiry strategies to their current curriculum. In her previous work in the Center for Educational Resources and Outreach (ERO), Christine designed interactive online genetics “Web labs” For the Enlivening Genetics Education project to accompany a variety of life science textbooks through the National Science Teachers Association’s (NSTA) sciLINKS program. She also served as a member of a team that created the Ford Partnership for Advanced Studies, an interdisciplinary high school program. Christine participated in the development of several curriculum units—on the topics of aquaculture, water quality, and vegetation mapping—for middle and high schools. In addition, she consulted with NSTA to develop online institutes and resources that provide professional development to science teachers. Christine obtained a B.S. degree in neurobiology and participated in several primate behavior research projects. She also has an M.Ed. degree from Lesley University, where she studied curriculum and instruction, with a focus on technology in education. | |
