| Senior Curriculum Design Associate | |
| Irene Baker is a CSE senior curriculum design associate. Currently, Irene is working primarily on the National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded curriculum development project Foundation Science, helping develop chemistry and physics content. Before coming to CSE in 2002, Irene spent two years as a curriculum writer at Cambridge Physics Outlet in Peabody, where she helped write and publish a ninth grade physical science program centered on hands-on activities. She also worked for six years in many capacities at TERC in Cambridge, Mass. She supported the development of Investigations in Number, Data, and Space (an elementary math curriculum), and she wrote part of a published physics curriculum based on practical workplace scenarios.
Before entering the field of education, Irene worked as an assistant researcher in labs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Boston University School of Medicine. She holds a B.S. in chemistry and a B.S. in humanities from MIT, completed three years of graduate work in MIT’s Applied Biology program, and holds an M.Ed. from Lesley University in Cambridge. She has also taken courses in the Electronics Technology program at Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown. | |
